The Town of Hardwick operates under the provisions set forth in a town voter and Vermont state legislature-approved municipal charter. In the field of municipal government, the Town of Hardwick is a Town Manager form of government.

A Town elected Select Board hires the Town Manager. The Select Board is the board of directors, and the manager is the Chief Executive Officer who carries out the policies established by the Select Board, to whom the Manager is responsible. The Manager performs all duties prescribed by the Town Charter, required by the laws of the State of Vermont or by resolution of the Select Board.

The Town Manager is responsible for the operation of all departments as designated by the Select Board and the town manager’s office staff performs the many administrative, financial and miscellaneous functions and services as incorporated in the Town Charter. WATER TO BE TURNED OFF FOR REPAIR WORK

Tuesday May 2 at 2:30 PM, the water will be turned off at North Main Bridge to Hazen Union, at High Street, Wakefield Street, Maple Street, Church Street, and Slapp Hill.  It is expected that the water will be on as soon as possible after the work is completed.  The work is being performed to add two main valves for the new service line.  Expect some discoloration of the water after the water is turned back on.  Let the water run for several minutes to clear the lines.
